Don't get me wrong, it's horrible what happened, but....

I find it very interesting how the guy had time to call 911 and tell them what was happening, but wasn't able to put the car lets say into Nuetral then simply press the brake O_0 ???

But, ya I agree double floor mates are a bad idea, the hooks are there for a reason.

wow this is crazy this happened to me when i worked at the toyota dealership. i was moving a brand new venza and the accelerator got stuck and i was flying down the little lot. my heart was pounding i thought i was going to die because i was going head on into other cars. i tried slamming on the breaks but since the accelerator was stuck on the floor it didnt stop right away. so i thought really quick and i turned the ignition off. then finally the car came to a stop. and thankfully it came to a stop a few feet before crossing a busy intersection.
and its hard to say but at them time when its happening u dont realize that the mat was stuck, cuz i know i didnt, and everything happens so fast that the simplest thing like putting the car in neutral is like the last thing ur thinking off. so yea crazy story and i almost died, but yea this is dangerous
