I'm gearing up to upgrade the sound system. I know the front doors have 4" speakers. What's the largest set of separates I can install without too many mods to the doors of my '98 GS 300?

good question.
im in the process of doing this.

i got a big surprise when i took off my door panels and i found out the custom enclosure the gs's have for the speakers.

luckily i found some speaker adapters you can buy on ebay. and they fit 6.5 speakers. their a good price. 19 and 20 bucks plus shipping. i bought both pairs for 50 bucks. not so bad. or you can make them out of mdf.

with a dremel, it will fit 5 1/2s easily.

for 6.5's u need to make some custom speaker pods.

I remember seeing the adapters on ebay awhile back. Just checked and the listing is gone. Can you tell me who you bought it from? I'd like to contact them to find out if they have more.

I can fit an infiniti kappa perfect 6.5 in the front and back and there still seems to be room left. Although, when you close the door with window rolled down all the way, you kinda hear the window hit the speaker end.
