Default Just my luck .... Fuel Pump

what more need I say?

my fuel pump went out today...

i was driving and just felt the car go into 2nd gear and wasnt revving anymore...it happened several times.

then I thought I would have made it to the gas station atleast. but I was driving on an incline.

then the car just started sputtering and gave out.

had the get the thing towed to my mechanic. he said its atleast a $400 job.
300 for the pump approx. and 100 labor.
he said it had no pressure pumping gas to the engine.

had big plans for the next few weeks to come.

im glad it happened close to home atleast. and not on a highway.

gonna be carless for the next few days. ive gotta wait till monday for a specific price from the dealer for the part.

I see sewell has it for about 300+ so ive gotta weigh in if i should get it through my mechanic or not. depends on the price difference..

well good luck to me.

wow I didnt realize the pump was that expensive, I've taken it out before to replace my filter an easy 30 min job, I can't believe that it would cost that much. Check around for a better deal.

i dont know where to find a price better than 300 for the part. sewell was my only hope with the discount but they want $293. then shipping has to be factored in smh.

its already at the mechanic so I have no choice but to pay that 100. im cool with him so maybe he'll knock something off of the price like he usually does.

my injector is good. its just the ring around it. thank goodness they arent bad.

Just your luck, I have a fuel pump chillin in my garage on the shelf that came out of my car when I had around 15-20k miles or so that I'll sell. All of the GS's share the same pump part number 23221-46120

PM me if you want it

Keep in mind, the fuel pumps on the cars last a LONG time. Unless you or the previous owner often run the tank down empty. The fuel pump uses the fuel for both lubrication and cooling. If you ever ran out of gas, then you're killing the pump BADLY! Even running very low on gas is bad for the pump. After you replace this pump, keep in mind to fill up soon after the fuel light comes on.

Carson Toyota sells parts for cheap as well and if you call them tell them to give you a Club Lexus discount. I checked on-line and the fuel pump Carson Toyota is selling also for $262.58.

Do you need a new pump? If so, pm me and I'll sell mine to you. Mine only has 15-20k on it and it came out of my 2005 GS.
