I'm going to replace my timing belt and water pump on my 2003 GS 300. I plan on replacing the tensioner and pulleys too. Can anybody suggest the actual specific parts? I was looking at RockAuto and they have quite a few different ones to choose from. Has anybody bought anything from them before? It seems like a lot of people use Carson. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm about to do the same parts replacement, though my mechanic said hold off on tensioner unless it's really needed. I found great pricing at Lexus of Pembroke Pines...$160 for OEM water pump and only $24 for belt.

Change out the idler and tensioner pulley. Even if they look/sound good now, they might go bad later. My friend's ES330 had its timing belt done not too long ago by the previous owner and he never had the pulleys replaced. Now it's making noises so I have to replace them. It's almost another timing belt job.
. Besides an extra $60 for parts is worth it.

tromly, here's the water pump for $126 shipped.
http://www.auto partsway.com/AutoParts2/index.cfm?fetch=altPart~ID=W0133-1611298&partnumber=W0133-1611298
(delete the space between 'auto' and 'partsway'. CL won't let me link it without thinking it's spam)
Make sure you get the o-rings to go with it. You need:
96761-24022 (2 req)
96761-24028 (1 req)
Both o-rings can be ordered through Lexus of Pembroke.

Yes. ASCO/Aisin supplies water pumps for Lexus. Our transmissions are Aisin also which is no surprise since Toyota works very closely with them.
The timing belts are from Mitsuboshi or Unitta, at least from all the GS300s I've seen. Dayco, Gates/Unitta, Goodyear, etc are suppliers for serpentine belts. As for the pulleys, NSK, NTN, and Koyo are what Toyota uses. In fact most of these brands are OEM suppliers for Honda, Nissan, and Toyota.
I bought my friend some Koyo timing belt idler and tensioner pulley for $60 shipped. Toyota wanted close to $200. I don't need the red and white box so it's worth the savings.
I also bought a Nissin (OEM for Honda) master brake cylinder for my other Acura for $100 shipped. Dealer wanted $250![Egads!](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/pat.gif)
For a lot of things, you can save a bundle if you know who makes the parts. Skip the middle man and mark-up price.

Aisin brand timing kit (incl idler pulleys, water pump, T belt) offa rockauto.com only $160. From reading the forums Aisin brand is pretty much OEM. Also u can google for a 5% instance coupon so it comes out to be like 8 bucks cheaper.

I can't speak for Aisin belts, but I have used almost everything else, however they make great stuff, so I don't really see anything issues. If I was your mechanic, I would recommend you purchase OEM or gates, and if I remember correctly, Gates makes Toyota's belts..
