someone said something about being under inflated...what would be the correct tire preassure for say an 18-245-45 size tire? I have Falken's as well and would hate this to happen at 120 miles per hour. :-/
well, luckliy your ok so is your car! along with your wheel!
***** happens! its a tire it goes through all kinds of crap on the road, just look at it this way! "nothing worst happened!"
you sure? i believe the tire list the MAX PSI. as for actual PSI for the car.. check your manual..
i believe for 2gs its somewhere around 35-37 PSI.
mines at:
Front 40.5 PSI (40 cuz the tire is slightly overloaded.)
Rear 36 PSI
on a 245 45 18 i would run 40 psi front and rear the manual would only list the tire psi for the stock tire size. on low pro file tires the max psi is 44 to 5o psi allways run about 5 to 6 psi lower than the max to allow for the psi to build up in the tire with the heat. when you have a low pro tire the side wall is smaller therefore you run more psi to keep the tire up, to much heat building up in the sidewall can cause failure. that looks like what happend here the tire was low in psi bulit up heat and blew the sidewall. ive seen this happen alot as i have been in the tire biz for quite a few years now. as for falken tires as a brand i do sell them and i run them on my rides. i have never had any problems with them what so ever, and ive got them on 5 different cars.
If that's a nail there, I think it's possible the sidewall separation happened after the nail just during the time driving to a stop on the flat tire to a safe spot.
