LOL I know how to do the gas calculation

fill up to the nozzle clicks and stops pumping,
reset the trip and go....

then refill from what ever point I am at and then take how much gallons it took to fill up and divide the miles (before REFILL) I've driven by the amount of gallons. it took to get the pump to click and top off.

and yes Ive used the same gas station and pump.

any from Full to the warning light, its between 195 and 208 miles ive gotten
trust me ive done the method and I know im not bugging out

on a half tank my fuel can vary from 60-110 miles. just by looking at that I can see something is wrong.... TERRIBLY

I mean im driving in NYC Brooklyn specifically. there are a lot of red lights and stuff. but regardless. its CITY driving. and most of you guys driving CITY dont get this terrible mileage.

I have a GS430 w/ Torque Master Plugs, SRT Intake, PI 2900 Stall Torque Converter and a 3.76 LSD and I get 275-290 with a semi heavy foot.. im running Amsoil 10W30 in the motor and Mobil1 in the tranny.. I think you should probably get that tune up cause somethings not right maybe try taking it to Lexus and getting the full diagnostic??

Most people dont live in congested areas like NYC or LA.

If you've done all your tune ups then that's that. Nothing else you can do to the car to increase fuel economy. After that it's all about the driving. Trust me, I got 12mpg in crappy city too, but on the highway, I get 25mpg (30 on long trips) so I know it's not my car.

i take the car to my mechanic who's a former top mechanic AT the lexus dealership.

im going to eventually get a tune up, but my other friends with a GS400 that got a tune up from the same mechanic said that no difference was really made performance wise.

so Im not expecting anything drastic after the tune up.

seems like im kinda stuck with this huh?

but if they said 18 MPG city what kind of city were they talking about?
I know i am not gonna get 18 MPG but 14-16 atleast.

and the part of brooklyn I live isnt THAT congested like manhattan or anything.

what cities are the rest of you guys driving in where you get the mileages you get?

Im getting about the same driving my GS300 in Brooklyn. The fact is that we don't commute as much as people outside out the city do. New York City is not that big.

When visiting friends in PA and driving 2 miles to the nearest supermarket, I see the difference.

You can not calculate your gas mileage like people do out of NYC. Its one of the big downs of driving a nice car in Brooklyn.

Ohh and BTW, when I drive out of NYC, regardless of highway or not, I'm always getting over 20mpg! In NYC, I avg 12mpg!

thanks man, i actually made me feel NOT alone.
gas mileage and terrible streets are the two biggest downs about driving in the city. make sure u have good suspension! the city will definitely destroy it.

in any case i need to move to the burbs to enjoy the actual fuel economy that this car can get.... annnnd enjoy smooth roads.

I agree you are in congested areas but make sure your maintenance is above par with better than Mobil one fluids and it is all aligned perfectly with no worn arms or bushings.

Keep us posted... If you change/clean...... MAF,TB,spark plugs, air filter, fuel cleaner, etc.. You should c a difference..

Another tip is to switch gas stations for awhile.. There's such thing as bad gas and can decrease gas mileage tremendously.

I've gotten as hight as 320 when i first got the car..
