Default Maintenance after 100K

Hi all,

I've tried searching, but was wondering if anyone knew the maintenance items after 100K?

I've changed lower ball joints, battery, timing belt, water pump, and had fliud flushes (brake and transmission fluid)

I've had the starter changed under warranty.

Other than that, regular oil changes. What should I expect soon?

Thanks

Have you changed your power steering fluid and differential?

The owner's manual service supplement has the schedule Go to Lexus owner's site and you can view it or request a printed copy of the manuals sent to you.

Repeat the schedule you did from 0-90k for 90k->180k.
However, if your mechanic spots anything during his inspection, do take his advice for that service or a future service.

The big one is the drive belt at about 125K miles. While they are in there, it makes sense to do some other items - like water pump, idler arm assemblies, etc. Since you are paying for the labor (make sure they don't double charge you) this is the time to have all these replaced.

So at 180K, do a water pump and timing belt again, etc?

Pretty much correct on the looping schedule.

But do note that replacing waterpump is actually not an item in the Official maintenance schedule, but just something a lot of people do because there's should only be a minimal extra labor charge since you have everything taken apart for timing belt anyway.

I thought I might chime in on this thread being that I just spent $2551.47 on my 2003 GS430 at the dealership. My receipt from them was 4 pages long of work they did. Needless to say, I love my GS and decided to take the plunge and reinvest in it rather than buy a new(er) one. To give you some background, my GS now has 103k miles on it and is in overall great shape. Before taking it in I had noticed it driving a little rough, however, after getting it back from the dealership and spending what I did, the car drives like it did when we bought it with 10k miles on it. I was very impressed with the work accomplished. Here's a simple list of what they did on the car:

90,000 mile servicing (incl. timing belt replacement)
Replaced the drive belt
Auto trans and diff drain & fill
Replace wiper blades
Lube steering column because when telescoping it would squeak (no charge)
LH & RH lower strut rod bar bushings had split, they were replaced
Four wheel alignment
Power Steering flush
Front Brakes replaced with rotors resurfaced (caliper pin was sticking, R&R all four pins)

Damn thats a lot of money. Most of that stuff you probably could have done yourself with basic tools.

All New oem waterpump,timing belt,idler 1 & 2 pulley,belt tensioner,thermostat & seal & new coolant w/labor & tax is $952.12. An additional $85 for alignment and balance all four tires. I think it's pretty decent.

Yes, its quite a chunk of change, but when you're not a garage mechanic much less have the time its money well spent.

Stuff was needed for sure. I wish I could have done it for you. would have done it for half that price, except alignment and still be laughing all the way to the bank. Damn that was high.
