Locked out!!! Need help
#17
I ordered another key. They had to special order one for me, took a day to arrive. They cut it for me in about 15 minutes because Keyes Lexus Van Nuys has a key cutting machine at the dealership. Some other dealerships need to send the key out to get cut so it may take an extra day, but in total you are looking at a 3 day max wait. So it is faster than BMW, but cheaper? Far from it. A master key (like the original key) is around $300 plus tax (includes programming) and a valet key (will only open doors and turn on the car) is around $150 (including programming). This is what I learned from the whole experience. Price may vary by a few dollars from dealership to dealership, but this is the average. Hope this helped
$167 for master key
$80 for valet
didn't see what out the door after shipping and/or CL coupon would be.

Carson might also have been worth a call to see how much they would charge.
You can give standard programming a try with sewell posted instructions.
If you've run into a problem, some dealers will do it for free (if you have a service relationship), or $50 or so at most.
Sometimes you'll need the dealer computer, if for example too many keys registered or something else strange.

I think I understand, but maybe not. The immobilizer is a function of the ecu, you just need to really open the door up right? If you get one cut it will unlock the door, thus turning off the alarm, this is theory, not experience... Here is a link http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/for...hp/t23010.html to give you the step by step for programming, as well as others opinions on their scenarios. If it were me, I would simply get a new key cut or have a lock smith open the door to allow access to the cabin. A key should turn off the alarm, programmed or not. Pop the trunk, and use your old key, otherwise reprogram them both. A locksmith will open the door, but the alarm will go off not allow access to the trunk, but you can always pop the hood and undo the battery for some time to pass for alarm to reset. You with me?
