My '02 GS430 would not start, so I had someone jump it. The car fired up, but now the two VSC lights are on and the tach is buried all the way past redline and does not work. What could have caused this and how can I fix it? Thank you very much for any help.
I searched and found that this is basically a CEL, but I'm confused as to why the tach stopped working, as well as what the correlation is to the car getting jumped and then these electrical malfunctions.

I'll go to Autozone when I have time and have the codes run, but I want to see if anyone had experienced something like this after the battery dying.

Have you checked all your fuses related to the instrument cluster? Also Autozone may not be able to read ABS/VSC codes. Their scan tools usually (in my experience) only support generic OBDII (engine only) codes. You might need to have it hooked up to a "better" scan tool.

Thanks for the reply.
I checked fuse #8 in the driver's side kick panel fuse box- it was for the gauges. It was okay.
I have the car on a charger right now and I fired it up, and now the VSC lights are off. Maybe once the battery is charged back up or I get a new one the tach will come back on.
