Local stealership quoted me $1,300 for the belt and NO water pump. Said they don't go bad in 90K miles. Since I've been going to the same stealership for cars and service for quite some time, my service adviser said he'd do the above mentioned work for ~$900.

I passed and went independent. For the same ~$900, I had the following work done: timing belt, water pump, thermostat, outer belt and gaskets. I did an oil change, oil / air filters, cleaned MAF and spark plugs on top of all that. The seals, idlers and tensioners were good to go as is. I also updated my nav DVD to the latest version. Overall, not a cheap week for me! That said, I should be solid for many years to come.

Drive on!

By the way, my old timing belt looked to be in fine shape at 94K mi and 10 years old. Just wanted to throw a little gas on the fire on when to change the timing belt.

I just had my 90k service done last week. There is actually a kit that i bought that come with a new timing belt, all the tensioners, gaskets, and i think it also came with the water pump. After everything was done my mechanic charged me around $850 and the dealership quoted me at over $1800 for everything.

go to rock auto or you can find some on eBay. MAKE SURE it's the OEM KIT on ebay and not some off brand parts.

When I did my timing belt service last year I replaced:
1) Belt
2) water pump
3) idlers (I would replace them for sure) it's a bearing and eventually it will make noise.
4) tensioner (old one was still good but I found original one for only $40 so why not???)
5) Thermostat
6) PCV
7) Coolant obviously

BTW, these were all original parts.

Where in CA are you located? I'm in Bay Area.. I could do all this for you for $650 the most. Let me know.

This particular kit DOES NOT come with tensioner. You must be thinking about idler for tensioner. There are 2 idlers total in this kit. One that's paired w/ tensioner and the other one on the other side.

Rock auto has it for 190 before shipping. I had a 5% discount code which basically made it free ship. Then I ordered oil seal, coolant, t-stat and the serp tensioner from Sewell for another 120. parts were under 350... Can't complain.
