questions about DIY chrome grill

i recently purchased a platinum edition gs300 and i wanted to chrome my grill but i was told by some 2 gs owners that the platinum edition grills are black chrome? has anyone done a DIY chrome grill on a platinum edition gs?

i tried stripping the paint off my black chrome L emblem and it does nothing.
