No, I took the ashtray part completely out. Left the frame around the ashtray. Then just laid down the non-skid stuff. I didn't have time to fabricate a new "pocket". Probably some black felt would look better, and run it further up into the hole.

I'm not sure I really like the car, so I wanted to be able to put the ashtray back in when I sell it.

yeah, you can see all the internal guts (screws n stuff)..

at least cover that stuff up.

Unfinished for sure, but not a bad idea.
