Default which 2jzgte/gtte

i have a 99 gs300 and wanted to do a 2jz swap. i was wondering which motor setup would be the ideal setup for the car. i heard the 93-97 2jz needs some wiring done and the 98+ 2jz is a plug and play. i mostly work on nissan and honda, and this is my first toyota. im pretty much in the dark with this one. help would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys

FIY.
2jzgte and 2jzgtte are the same things. 2jzgte is the correct engine code. Just a little bit of info.

What are your goals as far as power? Why are you going towards the swap instead of NA-T?

Just trying to gain some info to help you out.

tryin to go for 600whp. but wondering if the auto tranny will even hold that. i have a friend with a 95 supra/6spd with after market mods and hold 575whp with no engine mod. just through experience, seems like factory built boosted motors are a little more stout. thanks for the reply

...and it just seems a 2jz swap and a na-t turbo kit would be around the same.

Same as far as price? hmm. I think boosting your current motor would be better, IMHO.

as for 600whp, neither trannys will hold without mods. The GTE MAY hold. I'm not sure though.

Hopefuly others can put some input on this.

If you want 600WHP. You must go single, upgrade the auto tranny. Ive heard good things about Boost Logic. The stock auto tranny can only handle about 450whp give or take. The stock JDM twins...depending on what gas you use, but at max is about 21psi. Thats pushing it too. At 21 psi you will get about 400-425 whp max. If your motor is healthy and everything is tuned. Remember at 21psi, you should be running race gas or methanol injection.

Best bet is go single, get a boost logic tranny, upgrade the injectors, possible go stand alone, and a really good tune. 600whp on an auto is a lot of horse power.

BTW I would do the swap over na-t. I only say that because you want 600whp. If you want 400whp or less then go na-t. I think its much cheaper to do the swap to get 600whp.
