For some reason or another whenever my car gets to about 4k RPMs in 1st/2nd/3rd the performance of the car goes downhill and it almost seems as if the car is struggling for power. If i floor the gas pedal and jump the car up to 5k RPMs the car goes back to normal and doesn't seem to struggle for power.

This happens when the car is cold or hot and only happens at about 4k RPMs. It will climb from 1k-4k fine but as soon as it hits 4k this problem occurs.

Was just wondering if anyone else has experienced any similar problems, and if so what was the solution?

what year and how many miles???

 

2001 @93k miles. I was thinking that it could be my air filter and replaced that because it was pretty dirty but have still been getting it. I'm hoping it's something that can be fixed easily like plugs/wires.

could be bad sparkplugs. change them yet?

 

Is it pedal position, or actually at 4k? Just asking cuz the tps could have a flat spot.
