Not that I'm complaining but why is the UK spec GS430 weaker than the US version at 279HP and 308lb/ft of torque. 0 to 62mph at 6.3 secs which translates to roughly 6.1 secs 0 to 60mph. I thought emission controls are stricter in the US.

Case in point, M3 is 343HP Euro Spec as opposed to 333HP US Spec due to stricter emission controls in the US.

this was discussed before, Im not sure what the reason was but I do know that the reason it is slower is because they use diffrent computers. The UK gets a less powerfull GS but they also get the L-tuned parts standerd ( suspension, stearingwheel ECU ). So the GS430 might be slower in the straight line but it will handle better ( which I think the European market wants ).

1st: 3.357:1
2nd: 2.180:1
3rd: 1.424:1
4th: 1.000:1
R: 3.431:1
Finaldrive 3.266:1

The numbers are for all 430 models in Germany the same.

Maybe to accomodate different gas too since gas is 4 times as expensive in Europe as here.

Europe gets J-spec GS430's(which they don't sell in Japan because they have the Aristo V300 which is much better IMO). Japan "officially" limits all their cars to 280ps(276hp) due to the gentlemans agreement. Allot of people in England also import V300's.
