u wont be satisfied in the 300 and if u buy the 300 you will just want the v8 so just do it right and buy the gs430...NOT the gs400

i must agree , 300 doesn't have much power. I got it and now kinda regretted it , but than the price i payed and the mint condition its in i know i won't find 430 in a shape that i want it to be with 100K. i just wish 300 will have better pickup

and why not the 400? isnt the performance almost identical? I know the 430 has some more bells and whistles, but I think I can survive with out some of those.

But I understand you are a bit biased

here's my opinion,

I've owned a

98 GS300
95 SC300 stock auto
95 SC300 1jz twin turbo auto
95 SC300 5 spd

and right now i have a 01 GS430.

Maybe i'm crazy but i thought my 98 GS300 had plenty of power, it wasn't a race car by any means, but for daily driving it had plenty of passing power and was actually pretty pleased with it.

Now if you want it to be MORE fun i'd definetly recommend the 430 if you don't feel like doing much to it..

after selling my turbo SC and 5spd SC, i needed the GS cause i have a newborn, so i picked up a cheap 98 GS300 it was a great car, but i was sooo tempted to mod it, and i found myself wanting the little 01+ upgrades, so i decided to sell it and get a 430. I would have ended up spending a bunch boosting my 300, so i just decided to keep it simple and get the GS4..

also having owned a 98 and a 01, if you can find a killer deal on like a black on black GS400 i'd say go for it, buut the 01+ cars definetly feel newer and IMO drive a little better.. I could never figure out why my steering felt kinda loose in the 98, i tried a bunch of things and it always felt like i had play in the steering.. my 01 feels brand new.

i said it for 3 reasons, one I'mdef a little biased obviously and 2 i choose it for the bells and whistles......the green headlights with auto levelers, newer tails, better nav, oem hids, a few other things. personally i would prefer the gs400's motor as atleast 3 people i know did make SC for them....now im not sure how easily they could be adapted to the 4.3 in the gs430 but i cant imagine it would take much

and the 3rd reason... a few things i DIDN'T like with the gs400....the prone to leak power steering pump they fixed on the gs430, the busted ball joint problem they fixed on the gs430 and a few other things.

i have owned 3-4 other Lexus's and have driven tons of others. im not a racer in my car but i DEF found the gs300 to be underpowered anytime i drove one.

as far as the steering in the 98....i think they changed the steering rack in the newer model

wait, you actually like the headlights with green tint?
you are the first one on here I actually heard that has no problem with it
me personally don't have a problem with them either.

and the rack is tighter in the 99+?

yeah the OEM navi on the 01+ GS is a BIG + for me I totally agree with that

I just wanted to ask you your personal opinion, what about the 1UZ engine would you prefer?

The one thing I love about the GS400 is the E-Shift. thats ONE reason I would go to a 2000 and back GS4

sakataj, lol maybe i just drive like a old man, the first time i test drove my GS430 i thought it felt like a gs300 all around until i put the pedal to the metal after owning it for awhile though i'll agree it has more getup and go even thru normal acceleration, but i still think the GS300 has enough power, not fast at all but it can get around traffice fine i thought..

----------------------------------------------------------

I'd definetly get a 01+ though, the interior feels way newer to me, the steering wheel and cluster bezel alone make the car feel newer lol..

I've read the newer racks where updated too, i also believe the GS430's have a better suspension from what i understand?

i know SC300's inside and out having owned a couple and modded the hell out of them, but the GS430 is more of my "Cool family car" so im sure alot of you Hardcore GS guys known alot more about these cars...

that E-shift is pretty cool but i think the 01+ things faar outweight the e-shift feature, also how often would you really use it on a day to day basis.

if you arent going to modd go with the GS400, and not the 430 because while i dont own one i can testify that the semiauto buttons on the 400/300 are very fun. GS300 is a great car and has all the power any daily driver needs but the gs4 probably delivers more smiles

I have a 03 gs3. I just want a nice ride with wheels and a system and not really looking for speed, BUT I wish i would have gotten a 400 or 430. i punch my car from time to time and theres really no pep to it at ALL. Dont get the 300 if you really want the v8. keep looking bro.

yes i like the green headlights.

i actually DONT prefer the 1UZ engine except for the fact that there is more aftermarket support. albeit not alot more but there is more. literally 4 people i have known have made SC kits for the gs400...ONLY kit i know of for the gs430 besides custom is the jet kit.
i know of 3 members on here with either a TT or a T gs400.......how many g430's u know of??????????

on here NONE....i can confirm

there was talks of on on this SUPER OLD post but no confirmation

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...0-is-this.html

i know of ONLY 2 nationwide. the one from super street and the one from that i think LMS. but thier kit is like 8k i think

thats the ONLY thing i wish we had on the gs430 was the e-shift....

U guys are killing me!! I have been on a quiet quest to get rid of my 98 GS400 with 96K miles ONLY because I am getting a little bored with it. I've had it for 2 years and it is still stock with 17" rims and the thing runs like a champ. I can not seem to kill the thing! Thinking of getting something different to change it up a bit.

Now I am reading this post and it just confirms what I already know about my GS4, it is a great car with the power and e-shift, now I am second guessing my thoughts and should just keep it!!!

You guys are killing me!
