dumb question but is there a lot of white smoke coming from the exhaust or is it smoking from under the hood? if you have a bad head gasket you would know it. there would be a lot of smoke coming out and even more when you press the gas. also the temp gauge would spike.

I have another question can heavy smoke be caused by too much oil in the engine

Too much oil typically blows out seals, Similar to a tranny thats over-filled you'll eventually spring a leak from the internal pressure. Too much oil shouldnt cause smoke. And alot of people have used thicker oil to prevent the visual effects of burning oil thats why they have thick oil additives to stop the smoking. Products like "Motor Honey" and "NO-Smoke" both are additives that quiet noisy engines and somewhat limit the smoke.

Again if you were burning oil it would be a blue/grey colored smoke not white as you mentioned.

Blue - Burning Oil.
White - Coolant Mixed With Oil.
Black - Running Rich.

Those are the 3 different types of smoke (colors) you will see!!

Is it smoke or water vapor? GS300's for some reasons have insane amounts of white water vapor coming out of the exhaust, especially in the winter. If its all white smoke, then its probably nothing to worry about. If it was a blown head gasket, you would know it, as your engine would run like crap.

As far as burning oil, looks like you've been using the wrong type of oil. Here's what you do, take your car to a shop, have them change your oil and filter with quality 5w-30 oil, and add a bottle of seafoam or another quality cleaner to it. Drive around like this for 100-200 miles, come back to the shop and let them change it again, but do not add any cleaner. Now after this is done, make sure the car is warm, put it in the second gear, and punch it off the line, and keep accelerating at full throttle, and have someone follow behind you and see if there's any blue smoke coming from the exhaust. If they see blue smoke, then yes, your car is burning oil.

As far as you valve gasket leak, its probably not just the valve gasket, you probably have leaking cam and crank seals and might even have a leaking main rear seal. The dealer will rape you a new one to replace these, I suggest finding a reputable independent shop, you'll save money.

P.S. Too much oil in the engine wont cause oil to burn, but it will overbuild oil pressure, which will result in taking out your seals causing leaks, and it will put stress on your oil pump.
