Thanks but no thanks, its def nice to have something thats OEM like but how many people would go for this?
but that does NOT integrate OEM climate control. You still have a climate control unit on top of your screen. OEM nav has the screen on top, where it should be.

Every non-nav with an aftermarket nav installed has the screen down on the bottom.. too low.

Even if the double din is nice, it still looks like an aftermarket job. (not as clean as OEM)

that still doesn't look very clean to me.

add blue ray and I'd be all over this....

When I buy aftermarket, there's other features I look for as well, like the pre-outs, the preout voltage, does the unit have a hard drive or is the mapping on disc?

Great news! I spoke with Victor today and all of your Emails paid off. They have asked us to help with the development of the new Fly Audio system for 2GS owners. He has sent a request to their headquarters in China to begin R&D on making this happen. Hopefully in the next couple of months we have some kind of timeline on when this might come to market. Great work!

On another note, I have a demo unit sitting on my desk for anyone in the neighborhood who wants to see how clean and functional this unit is!

They ALSO have US support for repairs.

Do not spread misinformation please.

China is just probably where the R&D takes place.

Will they build the unit based on the original OEM system or will it be a new design, i.e. screen size, hard vs soft buttons? Will they be open to providing things like speedaddic suggested?

This is awesome news.

could you please show me where on this picture you provided it lookes like choped screen thats glued in? I'm failing to see to me it looks extremly clean yes the climate controls are up top big deal, if its worth 1300 dollars to you to have climate control intigrated into the screen then be it. I much rather own a nice set of coilovers for the price difference and still have same exact options in my stereo.

a quick google shows this..

if you can't see the difference in the 2, then thats fine. But you can tell the first screen was an aftermarket job. it stands out, doesn't look like it belongs in the car.

Look at the inset screen (for glare and picture quality purposes), the bezel that holds the screen, the integration of the buttons on the bezel, PROPER VIEWING HEIGHT.... etc.

To each his own but this will look better than any aftermarket system unless you spend a lot of money making a custom housing.

Its all about what you consider important.

Based on how they designed the system for the IS 250/350, I am assuming they will build it as close to OEM as possible. I doubt it will have blue ray, but it's definitely possible (just look for the price to go up). The maps are stored on the 1GB mini SD card. I believe the maps take up about 1/2 of the SD card, so you can use the other half for music and things like that.

Nobody uses blue ray. Can you really tell that much of a difference between DVD and blue ray quality on a 7" screen? lol

Firstly guys, let's not make this a measuring contest about what's clean and what's not. Everyone will have opinions and it oftentimes comes down to personal taste, budget, and tolerance. Personal wealth aside, there are guys on here willing to spend high 5-figures on the car and there are some who won't spend $5. To each his own and let's leave it at that.

Discussing pros and cons are fine as more info results in an informed decision by all. Making personal statements on someone's install or spending preferences should be left out.

Here is where personal tastes will come into play. As much as I like things to look OEM, I would not have a problem with the layout changing a bit. Button shapes and fonts should match the OEM ones. Comparing current tech, though, screen sizes have gotten bigger for less $. UI has become more streamlined. In these cases, I would not mind a little update to the system.

Although Blu-ray is not crucial for me, I have started only buying Blu-ray discs. I don't plan on watching much in the car but for those who do, I am sure they don't want to have to buy Blu-ray for home and Standard ones for the car. Just playing devil's advocate.

Again with changing tech, SD cards are not that expensive to get 4GB, 8GB, ... Would I be assuming too much that we can copy the map info from the 1GB SD to a larger one and that the system can address the additional space for music? movies? ...

Mat, excuse the questions as I know you are just a middleman at this point. You seem to, however, have a direct line to them as well as having some info that they passed along. Maybe we can use the thread as a sounding board and FlyAudio can directly see what some of their potential clients are looking for. They can then determine what is feasible to build.

When I was building software, customer feedback in the design stage was crucial but oftentimes costly. Here is a free way for FlyAudio to get the info. I am sure there will be people who wants the moon for next to nothing $ but hopefully, FlyAudio can build a system that will be good enough for most.

Here is my wishlist (although some are already in FlyAudio's current system):

Nav
Larger screen than OEM - touchscreen
Strong Radio Tuner
RDS support
MP3
SD for map separate from SD for music/movies
Software movie player
Bluetooth
TPMS
Aux I/O
Mp3 changer (in-dash?)

I can live without the cassette.

I'll update as I thing of more. I know this is still early in the R&D phase but look forward to the on-going progress.

I agree. I was asked my opinion and reasoning, so I gave it.

Does it have internal memory? Could we load the maps 1X and then not have to occupy the SD slot after that? That would be rad.

PS. I hope it doesn't say "CLIME" for climate control. haha
