Cool Newbie rim advise -- Dents, Bolt pattern, offsets OHMY!

MY first post after reading past post for 3 weeks!! This is a great community!
for my question:
I have a 98 gs3, my first mod will be rims and tires, I am planning on getting the RacingHart C5 3-Piece Wheels 19x8.5 (4x100 or 5x114) will these fit the bolt pattern on my car, they guys said they would but i wanted to double check!

I was told "the offsets are 45 and 38.. the 38 give the rear wheels a wider look.."

What exactly is offset, how do the rears look wider using this method??

I have heard that rims this large are easily dented, how true is this? Where are they dented? The lip?? I cant imagine everyone with dubs are initiating Evasive maneuvers around bumps and getting them repaired every week! How much would a dent repair cost? WHAT ABOUT RR tracks?

They currently have NITTO NT-555 235/35ZR19 mounted, is their a certain brand or specific tire that is stiffer or some how reduces the chance of damaged rims? a slightly fatter tire?? don’t run flats have really strong sidewalls? (I don’t know what I am talking about )

Where should I get them mounted? Is Discount Tire ok, or should I go to the dealer????

Yes. 5x114 is the right bolt pattern for GS. I'd recommend +38 offset to push the rimm all the way to the edge of the fender. Plus you'll have more room for later-on brake upgrade

Here is my RH C5 with +45 offset:

Do you know if the +38 would give enough room for a (bigger) brake upgrade? I've been told you have to get the high disc fitment although the RH C5 isn't a 'big lip' type rim so maybe it gives more clearance.

Default C-5's at +38

I can answer this one for Jacob, since I've talked to him on more than one occassion about the brake upgrade. Jacob has the +45 and needed to shave his SUPRA calipers to fit, so the +38 will be the correct offset for a big brake upgrade with the C-5's. My OZ's are +44 and only came in that offset for 17's, I'm short by about 7mm so no big brakes for me unless I sell my OZ's and get a new set with the right offset.
