So what do you do for the bulbs that have filaments that run horizontally rather then longitudinally which affects the way the light is put out.

Just trying to understand here.

I mean I put plenty of illegal mods on my car, no problems with that. My only prob are the damn illegal HID's that people rock cuz they look cool but blind other motorists.

Not seeing for a second can be detrimental at night, especially when o a motorcycle, which I ride frequently. Riding is what has made me so very aware for the illegal HID retro fit vice the real retro fit.

Hi,

I am not in any way saying that an HID kit is going to perform as well as a retrofit. I am however saying that you cannot generalize "HID kits not being functional" as results will vary depending on what kit is being used and the vehicle it is being installed in.

Steve, how are the results in a gs300 low beam with stock 9006 bulb? Also, would the only thing I would need be the 9006 kit and it's all plug n play? Lastly what would be the best color choice in terms of overall performance, beam, reduced glare for this setup? 4300, 5000 or 6000k bulbs?

Hi,

I can't speak from personal experience as I do not own a GS however I can tell you that the feedback we have received specifically from our GS customers has been very positive. Hopefully one of them can chime in here and give some feedback.

I would suggest going with the 9006 4300k HID kit for the brightest and most OEM Look and feel.

The kits are all plug n play correct? No splicing needed and no other parts?

Also does the 4300k still give off some yellow? I don't want blue but also prefer no yellow.

Hi,

The kits are literally plug+play. A 4300k kit compared to your stock halogen bulbs will look "crisp white." A 4300k kit compared to 5000k or 6500k will have a slight yellowish tone. It is all relative. I would suggest going with a 4300k kit.

Alright well I bought the 4300k kit. I figured if it does come out looking good, or too much glare I could always uninstall and put the kit on eBay or think about a retrofit. I think it will look good tho if I can figure out how to aim the bulbs correctly. I'll take some pics before and after and post some updates.

Is there anything I need to remove from the stock housings other than the bulbs of course?

Nothing at all. It will be plug+play.

I haven't installed them yet because there hasn't been a weekend day up here in Boston above 25 degrees in the past 2 months. I'm dying to get them installed so as soon as I have time and the weather hits 40 degrees I'll get them in and post pics.

So, today I finally found some time to install my HIDs from Xenon Depot. However, I ran into a quick problem which is the bulbs do not fit in the OEM housing.

Specifically, the round piece of plastic at the base of the bulb is too big. I measured it around and it's 2 3/4 inches. The OEM bulb only measures 2 1/2 inches in the same spot.

I emailed Xenon Depot to see what they will do to fix. There's nothing more frustrating than starting a job and realizing not only do you not have the right part but you now have to wait for it to come in the mail. ughhh

Has anyone else ever had this happen?

Sorry to hear that. I have ordered at least 6 kits and referred many others to Steve and Xenon Depot. Don't worry, whatever the issue is, he will help you get it resolved. I have the 9006 4300k in my lowbeams and had them in my fogs and the took less than 10minutes to install. The hardest part was tucking the wires.

Hi,

We have not changed our tooling for the 9006 bases so this is a first for me. Are you certain that you are not trying to insert the bulb into the high beam slot (uses 9005)?

We have had many customers on this board install the 9006 kits with no fitment issues.

I screwed up! Indeed I did take out the high beam bulb. I'm such a fool! As soon as I get another chance I will try again with the correct bulb.

Steve - thanks for your help! Your quick responses through here and via email show that Xenon Depot cares about it's customers.

Thank you
