Default Fixed my door molding

As you can see in pic 1 ,my lower door molding was seperating. I tried adhesives/epoxies of various types and nothing held for long. I was not aware until I got my own GS parts catalog that the moldings can be ordered painted from Lexus. They list for 30.00 each. Without quoting a price, Steve can get it for much less. Book calls for 1.5 hours. It can be done in less than 5 minutes each side via a safe shortcut. Since I have seen many GS's on the road with the same problem, I hope this helps some of you.

Car is waaaay out of warranty
Besides it was very very cheap to do and I do not trust any mechanic,Lexus tech or otherwiise, to mess with my cars.Past experience along with professional observation in my career.

I superglued mine back into place. I didn't realize this is as big a problem / wide spread as it is.

I have had that problem since I got my GS in 1997, It's happend on the same door (Passenger front) 5 times. It's real annoying.
I just checked it again now and It's cracked too. Make that 6 times.

this is covered by warranty, so if u still have the bumper-to-bumper, then bring it in. i had mine replaced 3 months ago.

Cool,
somebody is readying my mind
Just notice this washing the car yesterday,
I am planning to stop by the dealer after work today to see if they will replace it for me, I was gonna glue it back myself.

in any case, my car is under warranty =)

Default Mine too

I had the same problem - tried glueing it, which didn't really work for long - next time it was in to the dealer, they replaced it under cpo warranty.

Default easy way

Book calls for removing the lower door molding that the molding strip is connected to. The strip is held on via 5 small phillip screws. Open the door and remove the 3 10mm black plastic nuts holding the door molding. Using a flat head screwdriver, pry apart the lower molding from the door to gain access to the screws. Dont worry, it flexes a bit and you only need an inch of clearance. Remove the phillip screws and then slide the strip out. Reverse the process.
If you hear a pop while seperating the door/lower molding-it is just the snap . Just pop it back when your done by pushing on it.
