My winter car died a couple days ago, I'm trying to get another one ASAP. Old winter beater is the way to go up here.
I can't take the 20's off the front of my GS without removing the LS400 brakes so I tried to get around on all season 16's in the rear and Falken 20's on the front; could barely touch the brakes without sliding, almost hit some idiot who pulled out in front of me. Only had to go a couple miles to work but it was a little scary, walked today instead of chancing it.

Blizzak and Torsen LSD is so far a good combo.
BUT, that is if it is snow. If all that snow doesn't get plowed, melts, and ices up as the temperature drops, tire choice becomes a significantly smaller variable for traction.
Also, if you just need to get going (ie; on a hill), I had some luck with snow mode on, VSC off, "M" mode and keeping it 2nd.

I thought it was going to be an accident thread too. What exactly were the tires you were using.
I drove in the snow with my new All Season Kuhmo Ecsta ASX in my GS and they did fine but it was not very deep and I did not see many cars sliding. I put it in snow mode and did fine even getting out of some deeper packed snow when leaving my friends house. There was 2-4 inches of snow on the ground/roads when I was driving and about 5-6 when I was leaving my friends house. Were you driving in fresh snow or black ice or packed snow that was icy because there is a huge difference sliding wise with what type of snow/ice it is.
My Honda Accord did great in the snow with just good All Season Tires. There were times I was trying to make it slide and lose control where it was safe to do so but it would not and this was in snow where other people in rwd cars and pickups were sliding all around like crazy. I remember a friend following me in his IS300 spun out and crashed taking the same turn at the same speed and a guy in a old pick out I was following tried breaking for a red light and almost did a 180 and spun into traffic, I can't believe he did not get into an accident. I was able to get out of 8-10 inches of packed snow just fine and was surprised at how good of a winter/snow driver it was. It is definitely a good idea to have a fwd or awd car for driving in the snow if you have a rwd car and get a lot of snow in your area.

Got the check engine light on currently, which of course has to disable my VSC... You know what its like to drive in snow with the crap OFF?? On a scale of one to sucks, its about a sucks. "Honey, can you pick me up from work in your RX because my 300hp slick-a$$ street machine can't make it through 2" of snow."
I know its gotta be fixed and needs snow tires, but I'm also thinkin G35x...

remember, in the snow, the brake is the enemy, the throttle is the steering and the ebrake is your best friend if you have a handbrake(cant wait to add one to the gs).
