I'd be interested to compare the difference in rotational inertia between a same-size cast one-piece wheel and (for example) Manaray's HREs- most of the weight of the HREs is concentrated in the center- the rim halves are VERY light.

We haven't come up with an easy way to do this comparison (to be honest, haven't dedicated the time or resources), but I have always been intrigued by a comparison such as this.

You're absolutely right, the diameter (circumference, really) is what kills the gearing (this is why I opted for 19s on my SC400).
Nothing a 50-shot wouldn't fix, though!

And manaray.....My 20's weigh 5 pounds heavier than my stock 17's ....GET A CLUE
Really, you're stock wheels are only 5 pounds lighter than CHROMED LR-5's? What are the weights of both wheels?

Last time I check, the LR-5's were in the 40 pound range...

My personal opinion is (I'm not flaming) 20s would L@@K slow. To me, it's so big it reminds me of farm tractors May be 19s.

Even race cars don't have blade-thin tires

Again, just a personal opinion.

I have not notice a big change in take off!!! I bet it won't hurt your 1/4 mile speeds as much as some of you guys think. My 20s weighed 49 pounds rim and tire, I don't know how much my chrome 17s weighted.

Chrome 17's weigh 48 pounds. Its all about diameter. NOT WEIGHT.
