Default Auto air recirculation mode

I'm fairley new to the 2GS. Why does this only work when the a/c is on? What's the point most people don't run there a/c in fresh air mode.

I tested this on a 2GS at a dealership and it does the same thing mine does. Can anybody comment on this?

Interesting....mine lets me turn on the vent mode with the ac off. Did you try to turn it all on, and then hit the AC button manually afterwards to shut off the AC? My car is an '05 so the controller might be a bit different.

I can run fresh air mode (vent mode) at anytime, but I can't run AUTO vent mode without the a/c being on. If I shut the a/c off, auto shuts off.

There's a sensor next to the left side(driver side) headlight. It's a black box about 2"x3" big or so next to where the high side inlet of the AC is. It senses the pollution level outside and uses that to decide whether to run vent or recirc.

Thanks Jeff, what I'm saying is the auto light will only come on in a/c mode and most people don't run there a/c in vent mode. It doesn't make sense why you can't use auto (polution sensing mode) with the heater on.

If you run the heater with the AC compressor off, it will start to fog up the windows in the car. I think that's why the force you to have it on when you set the climate control to auto. If you manually turn on the fan, then turn down the heater...then yes it will let you run without AC compressor. But as I said, without the compressor on the windows will fog up within a few minutes.

I'm talking about auto mode for the vent/recirc, not auto for the climate control.

What are you trying to figure out??

Why the AC indicator is illuminated when the auto recirculation is set??? You're begging for help, but not clearly asking a question. The reason why the AC is running, regardless of the setting, is so that it dehumidifies any incoming air. This could be for assistance in clearing the windows in the event they fog, or general setting the comfort level inside the car.

AC compressors have become EXTREMELY efficient over the last decade, so there is no real reason to ever bother turning them off. Hit auto for both the recirc and climate, set you temp, and relax.

Enjoy the ride.
