Default New B with questions

Hello, I am driving a 98 GS400 that I am thinking about buying, But really dont know these cars that well. It has 114,000 miles, Engine is stock other than the Cat back exhaust. It has H&R Coilovers on it & 19" wheels. What should I keep an eye out for or be looking for to decide if im going to buy this car? What are the problim aireas these cars have if any? TIA for your help.

The Flux Capacitor is notorious for causing all sorts of electrical problems when you hit 88 mph.

Bring it to a mechanic and have them check out the whole car and especially the ball joints. They are a problem on these cars especially since it's lowered on H&R Coilovers right now. Besides that your mechanic should be able to tell you what else is wrong with it that needs repairing/replacing if any. Goodluck with the buy

make sure the timing belt has been replaced and hopefully the water pump.

if you're able to get all the service records, that would be good.

Thanks for the input guys, I am a car guy but this will be my first Japanese car that I would be using for a second car. My daily driver has been my 2000 Ram 2500 4x4 Diesel for the past 5 years, That is my baby & it is juced up quite a bit (500+RWHP & 1,100 RWTQ). Im just thinking it would be nice to have a second car to cruse around in.

LMAO!! The new models use biodegradeable waste for fuel, so save your trash.

Welcome to the club.. With that many miles i would look for the 90k service to be done along with a few suspension pieces mentioned above. With the coils and 19's seems like your halfway there to a modded GS400.. GL..

That service was done, & I am going to have the suspension & car checked out hopefully today. What are the good mods to do to these cars? Are intakes & chips worth doing?
