Default What mods can I make to increase HP at low cost?

I'd like to add some HP to my L-tuned 2001 GS300. I've only owned this car for about 2-3 months and I've found the handling to be very nice but the power is suprisingly lacking. My prior car was a 3.0 liiter Ford Taurus and had about the same pickup. Go figure this is a 3.0 L.

Anyway, I'm pretty good at fixing cars, doing brakes, calipers, alternators, water pumps, etc... but never owned a car worth modifying until now.

Are there any relatively inexpensive ($250 or less) things I can change out to increase HP?

Don't forget...your Taurus was lighter. These cars are heavy. And no, there is nothing you can do for that little.

Skip exhaust. Skip the air filters. They will cost you a lot and do very little for that seat of the pants feeling you are looking for.

Save your money....for a GS4

^Yep...Intake, headers, exhaust, won't do much. Just enjoy the ride, how fast can you drive without risking a ticket anyways right?

you only spent $6K for 01 GS300 w/ 62K miles and you ONLY wanna spend $250 for mods ??? come on, dig more money and spend more

$250 won't do anything.....keep the money instead

The fact that I only spent $6k should tell you I dont have a heck of a lot of $$$ to be spending on cars & mods. In fact if the dealer asked $7k I would have passed depite the bargain.

Fortunately my moms works at an auction and the dealer hooked me up by selling it near cost instead of running it through the lanes where it easily would have pulled $7500-$8000. I think he owned it as a trade-in for around $5k.

i see.

well...i'd suggest keep the $250 for now or you can spend about $275-$300 for SRT intake ( search around in performance area) , even though it probably won't give you that hp that looking for, but you might enjoying it. I had one and sold it
