Default Should I switch my seats?

I have the opportunity to get a pair of black leather recaros out of an evo for a good price. I'm trying to get your opinions on whether its worth losing the heated/power features for lighter more supportive buckets. What do you guys think? Go for it?

If you can live without those luxuries than go for it.. but if you live up north you may want your heated seats.. If you want to keep those fuctions just do a custom interior.. Many members are doing that and the outcome is phenomenal..

I've been considering this mod for a while too (look for my past threads I made )...and seems like EVO SSL seats would be a nice fit. This may seem odd but Saturn Ion Redlines also came with Recaros as well, haven't butt checked it but they seem to be cheaper than SSL seats.

The only problem I'm still trying to figure out is how to swap the heated seats... I think you'll have to take apart, both the OEM and aftermarket seat, swap the heater and put it back together....which would be a PITA and I'm not even sure on the dimensions.

Also, since you're having brackets made anyways, I would align it so that the center of the seat is 20mm or so to the right than stock. If you haven't noticed, the center of the steering wheel isn't aligned to the center of the seat which is one thing I hate about the GS (same with the RHD too).

Keep us updated as to how this goes!

I love the recaros in my Supra, but as far as a DD I like the heated seat option. They will look great, but its just perference on how important is it for you.

I'm very tempted considering the guy only wants $500, but I don't know if I can give up heated/power seats. Even though I don't drive it in the winter there are still some cold nights I take it out. Will I trigger any lights by removing the oem seats?

thats the other thing. TRD or Tom's sold the air bag light canceler for like 150bucks but not sure if that's compatible with the GS since they are made for Aristos.

I could care less for power seats, but heated seats are a must for me since my GS is my dd.

You can get a aftermarket seat heater and install them in the Recaro's. Assuming you can pull the covers off them and then get it back on again. These could easily be wired up to the factory switches too. I am going to be installing some in my Durango sometime soon.

that is a major thing to know since the 2001 gs430 DOES have seat airbags.... dunno if the entire SRS system will work without these and i wouldnt wanna lose the extra safety of the oem airbags but im not 100% a fan of the oem seats for extended drives

I would keep the OEM seats if I were you. Being a former Evo owner I can tell you that those seats are uncomfortable for long distance driving. Now if you are into raod racing or other competetion driving, and you would be putting the seats to good use then I say go for them. If you want them more for looks then IMHO it's not worth the trade off.
