Anybody DYI fender cutting??
Hello,
Has anyone cut their fenders with a dremel instead of rolling it? I'm about to get mine and i need some tips before i do. Please help.
I watch some youtube clips, but they did it with other cars. mostly trunks.

Rolling is out, fender shaving (cutting) is in. Plenty of threads on this topic.
Do an ADVANCED SEARCH using keywords like "Shaving" or "rolling" or "dimples" and limit search to the 2nd Gen Forum. You will see feedback on rolling, shaving. You should be able to find a DIY by CARBONGS using a Dremel.
Shaving can be done with a belt sander or a dremel or other rotary cutting tool.
Cutting with a Dremel is good when done right. Note there have been people who've experenced the dremel getting out of their hands and slipping across the paint. Someone with good skills can do it no problem. You also will have a sharp edge that would need to get ground smooth.
Shaving is a cleaner way to cut off the lip IMO. I can shave a fender with 50 grit in about 30 minutes and the surface is smooth and clean, you would just need to shoot some paint/primer to prevent rust.

Here's a youtube vid .

The sandpaper used in the vid was pretty mild like 100 grit. Go to a 80 or 50 grit for faster cuts.
As for the reciprocating saw, again it's all up to user skill level. For anyone who hasn't used one, I will tell you when that thing kicks back on ya you could be in for a ton of damage.

I deleted mine mostly for my 22's and havent had any problems. Others have found creative ways to keep them. One thing I know is that the metal behind it is VERY soft and you can use anything to tack the liner on to it. Before I bagged my car I used short 3/8" screws and screwed it on to the metal behind it, I've also hear of others using hot glue gun to stick it on

FENDER CUTTING the easy way !!!
I totally agree with ROPADOPA. Imo, the Dremel and Sanding takes too long. Initially I purchased a fender roller and learned the hard way. I rolled my fenders and created some dimples. Then on my friends GS, I used this air saw. Instead of using the saw that came with it, I cut a hacksaw blade in half and used it with the air saw. The air saw is much easier to control. No sparks, No mess, no drama or damage to the vehicle.(the hacksaw blade stays on the inside the wheelwell the whole time and it bends in the fenderwell) I did use a grinder to clean the edges, then I spray painted the area. Here's some pics from a job I did a year ago:
