What was the date of manufacture for the 2005 GS. I ask because my 06 GS was made in Jan 05 !!!! so did they make a 05 GS in 05 side by side with the 06 GS?

You gotta remember that cars are made 6 months before release date, iirc. So in answer to your question, yes there is an '05 2GS

of course there are MY 05 gs300 and gs430 but when were they made is what I was asking

Probably starting from mid '04 till well whenever they stopped. Thats a dealer question. Anyone with an '05 GS will just be able to give THEIR manufacture date and not a complete start and end date of production. Maybe wiki will give you accurate and complete information...

you probably have the first batch of 06's you sure its Jan 05? or June or July?

BUT yes I have even seen a 1997 2GS it had no sunroof and looked a little bit different,
it was one of the first 2GS'

I think you have one of the first ones.
and there are some cars made in their actual production year.

My old 98 GS was made in 1998 too, so not all are made the year before.

All in all, I DO think some of the LAST 2GS's were made the same time as the First 2GS's

but I could be wrong though.

My car was first sold 3/05 so yes, it was jan 05 mfg date...

I think they stopped production of the 2GS at around Nov/Dec '04. It wasn't selling very well so I don't think Toyota would keep cranking them out especially when they had a new model coming out right around the corner. They keep very tight control on their money and bottom line, so IMO I don't think they would make 2 different generation cars simultaneously. Mine was made on 11/2004 and I have a '05GS.
