I know that there is that tool to exactly measure but by these pics please guess your best. Guys please be accurate on your replies since my friend is buying these wheels and tire combo.

Pics shown is a combination of the two rear tires up close. Mix and matching rear shots! Tire size is 245/40/18.

It's time for new tires! 1000 miles or so?? Be horrible in the rain that's for sure.

18" tires are so cheap these days I wouldn't stress it if the deal for the rims is good.

I probally would tell the seller the tires have no value to me and he can keep'em and just buy the rims if he thinks the tires have lots of tread life left.

What rims are they? Any pics??

Time for new tires. Don't skimp out! Those will be dangerous in the rain!

should go by the thinnest part of the tire not the thickest, also to be technical, also depends on the tire. and its tread not thread...

should take this to the rim and tire section of CL where all the professionals are. In any event, between the tread there are markers that got perpendicular to the tread that I bet are already being warn down...

You're right it is tread. I was typing it quick since I have my shattered rear windshield to take care off too.

So it's safe to say that these tires would be dangerous and probably more costly to put on right now since I may have to take them off within a couple of months right?

Put them on now and drive in the snow?? NO. These look to be summer tires too. I would wait till you get the funds up and just put a fresh set of meats on. Is your car lowered?

More costly to put on the car and use it since I will have to go to a tire shop and take them off within months hence the cost of taking off, balancing, etc. Might as well get new ones now.
