Default Fuel gauge not working

Hi guys, can somebody help me why is the fuel gauge not working? I thought that the fuel is very low but after refuelling the car, the needle just won't go up and the low fuel warning light stay on.

What is wrong there?

I just realised that the the car almost stall when I stop at a junction or traffic lights and the idling is very low. Could it be due to fuel pump dying?

check fuel pressure. you might have gone so low on fuel that the floater is stuck to the bottom of the tank. and when you're that low on fuel you might have damaged your fuel pump within the process.

Thanks for the replay mate Anyway, the fuel gauge was showing another quarter left when I refuelled the car. After the refuelling, the gauge was not moving up and the low fuel warning light comes on.

Well, the fuel pump is still good. Only the fuel gauge is still not working. Apart from the possibility that the floater is getting stuck, what else can contribute to this problem?

But is there any connection or parts which causes the fuel gauge not working?

I'm pretty certain that its not the floater failing and more of the infamous cluster going out. maybe the transfer wire from floater to cluster. In most to all threads or just conversations in person in regards to faulty gauges is due to cluster failure. but the cluster is one of my ignorant topics so dont conclude too fast.

heres something I found by googling, cant read it all right now, but looks to have some good info... Have you ever heard of the world wide web and searching it? Ive heard its a good place for info

It turned out that the floater lever was broken (don't quote me on this) hence why the fuel gauge is not working
