Smile About to be 430 owner

Hey guys not to new here but about to buy my first Lexus that I have been searching for for a while and cant wait. Need little advice because I have never bought a car out of state and buying it in Chicago and I live in ATL. Going to fly up their in a few weeks and not too sure of all the questions to ask. He told me brief ownership of car, believe two owners, owned by his friends mother who garaged it all the time. Timing belt Water pump, plugs done at 90K currently has 130k, fluids been reg changed. Going to carfax it and try to work my loan out today. Any other questions I should ask or advice. Not too sure how the snow and salt would effect the body.
2002 GS430 140k he first wanted 10.5 but willing to go to 8,900. Seems like such a good deal I cant pass it up. Sounds like very trustworthy guy he posted small thread long time ago on CL so hope all will be good, I have been taken on a few lemons in my day and my Audi is a piece of ****, So hoping in few weeks I can be a proud Lexus owner, know they are great cars and with routine maintenance they will run forever, and have no doughts on this one, but would apprecite the advice. Thanks Michael

SOunds like a great deal and the 90k service was done which is a great piece of mind.. A few other things might be Ball joints, spark plugs, filters, window regulators etc.. Over time these can wear out.. Especially the ball joints..

Hope you land the deal if not check out our classified section.. There are a few well kept GS's..

What you may want to do is request the VIN, and goto the lexus.com and at the bottom left of the site there is a section labeled "Owners", there you can input the VIN and see if there was any major work performed by the dealer. Just another piece of mind. Congrats!

Mine is garaged during winter, but for those who drive them during as long as they constantly keep them washed they should be in good shape. Id still look them over for rust and corrosion especially underneath.

true but northern cars normally have a undercoating that us in the south dont normally get to protect the car from rust. my car has it, as i bought my car from NY. although if people didnt wash their undercarriage after the snow, the salt can still eat through the undercoating and the metal. just check underneath for any visible rust signs. if it has rust, STAY AWAY FROM IT. otherwise if everything else checks out, go for it
