I'll take that warm glass, enginyr, and dump it all over you...
Whitels, I'm just glad I don't have to choose between the upgraded stereo and the nav--THAT would be a tough call! Although judging by the number of people in this thread who said things like "Now I wish I had gotten the nav," I can see that many people chose the tunes over the map. That, and there is a great deal of interest in watching TV in your car!

2SAVVY- couldnt agree more.
Having a tv in the stock screen gives the car a really classy clean look, as apposed to buying an aftermarket nav and tv system... but i think the screen could use some enlarging.

Pioneer AVC-RGB1 has more then one problem:
1) It is discontinued
2) It is just composite to RGB converter
You also need switcher, to switch between video sources.
For on screen text to work I have cheap and good solution ? it is part of modification inside the GEX. I am working on it right now.
(For me, not a problem at all to setup the Pioneer GEX-P7000TV without on screen text.
I did have that unit in my Avalon for at least 1 year.)
Right, IR sensor itself - not big deal, but not good solution for the people who have no clue how to do that. (What about capacitor, shielding, current limited resistor??)
Ok, I put some information at
http://home.attbi.com/~lavinna/index.html
I know it?s not enough, but have to many things to do?

Also I am trying to find out manufacturer of original connectors used in TOYOTA/DENSO Multi-Display unit (male and female). If somebody can help me on it, it will be wonderful. Those connectors can make life much easier for DIY modification.
Cables are most important part in that modification.
If somebody needs more information, please send me e-mail at lavinna@attbi.com

Give him some times. He wants to make its easy for all the DIY. Or they can go to the audio shop and get it install without being charge for $2,000.00. I think if he wants to keep it to himself, he can make a few $$$$, what do you think.

So we're just waiting for him to type up the DIY stuff?? Also, what's the deal with 98-00 screens? Do they have the right resolution and enough colors to watch TV on? I was always under the impression the first nav screens were only 16 color or so...
