Amen,

Give the guy a break. As far as I'm concerned I'd rather he take his time and come up with a DIY that doesn't require any wire splices and given him a chance to worked out all the kinks himself.

Take your time man, we aren't going anywhere

Default Connectors??

My friends has bought some ECU connectors for a Rx7 from Amp when doing Haltech installs. They fit perfectly and I'm pretty sure that they would make make direct fit plugs for this project. They only problems, is that it's hard to find them on their web page (www.amp.com) and I heard the distributors sometimes have min. orders. I'll keep looking for these connectors.

I believe that these are the Nav RGB connector part numbers for an '01 LS430:

90980-11923 ;to plug into the NAV unit
90980-11922 ;mate for above

These are 10-pin connectors, with 6 pins used:
pin name wire color
1 VR Regulated voltage ? Yellow
2 RED Red
3 BLUE Black
6 VG Ground Shield
7 GREEN White
8 SYNC Green

The bad news is, when I tried to order these, my dealer is howing these part numbers as invalid. Apparently many of these connectors are not supplied as stand-alone parts. I am checking though on another possible source.

Jstjohnz,

Are these part numbers from AMP? I did a part search on the web site and came up empty handed. Are these Lexus part numbers and I can order directly from Lexus parts department?

I've tested my Pioneer GEX-P7000TV and AVM-P9000R on my LS430 navi screen, but it sure would be nice to have a wire harness to plug right into.

These are Lexus part numbers right out of the connector list on the wiring diagram. However, there is a disclaimer in the electrical manual to the effect that "Not all connectors are available as replacement parts", or words to that effect, and my local Lexus dealer says these numbers come up as invalid.

Keyes lexus told me that you can only get the wiring harness, if that helps any.

I have a question re video on Nav: What is the problem that causes no text display when using the GEX-7000 TV tuner with the Lexus nav display? Or, what is the difference between the nav display and a stock Pioneer RGB display interface?

Is this a difference of the RGB interface or is there an IP-Bus connection to the Pioneer monitor that enables the text?

How do you connect two RGB monitos to the GEX-7000 simultaneously?

The Pioneer GEX-P7000TV has a on-screen display chip (made by Mitsubishi) that requires a veritcal and horizontal sync. signal from a LCD controller chip. The LCD control chip is only inside a Pioneer screen, like AVD-505, AVD-W6010, AVX-7000, AVX-P7300DVD. These sync. signals come to the GEX thru the front 20 pin RGB connector. So without a Pioneer screen attached you won't get a on-screen text (channel numbers, setup screens and video input labels). Without on-screen text it's impossible to setup the GEX and makes it very difficult to use. To overcome this you can plug in a Pioneer screen to the GEX 20 pin plug, but you then need to hardwire (solder to PCB) 4 wires that will go to your navi display. The Pioneer screen and your navi screen run in parrallel. If using a screen like Pioneer's AVD-W6010 you can then use the GEX's rear composite video output to have the AVD-W6010 display a different source (video and audio) than what is displayed on the navi screen, while still keeping the sync. signals for navi on-screen text.

A difference between using the Pioneer GEX-P7000TV vs. Pioneer AVC-RGB1 (discontinued) is the GEX will do video switching between navigaiton screen/video and it also has TV Tuner, 2 AV inputs, 1 rear AV output, built-in FM modulator. With the AVC-RGB1 it requires you build a switch or switched relay to change between navigaiton and video. As for the Lexus RGB navigation interface it uses .75V P-P RGB + Composite Sync. - same as Pioneer RGB interface. This is why this Pioneer stuff works on Lexus and Honda/Acura navigation displays.

I've modified Pioneer GEX-P7000TV's for people at $120 and that includes a new IR eye for the wireless remote that comes with the GEX. Send me PM if your interested...

Hope this helps...
