What the heck is the black box in the passenger footwell?
I have a 99 gs400 with oem navi....i'm not sure if it is OEM or not since there was an aftermarket alarm on the car and there's extra boxes all over...it is a 3 1/2"x2"x2" black box in the back left area under the dash in the footwell. However, the box is not covered by the dash. It is hanging down and attached by two screws on either side to brackets....is this anything I should be worrying about?

It's a recorder, for when the car gets so severely damaged in an accident, that the insurance companies would rely on it for information. They simply play it back and gather as much information as possible. Be careful what you say in your car, as it is recording.
