Tires keep wasting - help!!!
#16
You got an alignment but chances are you need to aim for difference specs. If its not your ball joint or Caster arm bushing, its the fact that your toe settings are off, or too much toe in. Toe wear tires not camber. the GS geometry like the IS steers inward under compression. So go back to the alignment shop and ask them to aim for toe out end of the toe spec. Its a mild drop, you should be able to correct for this. Do you have your alignment sheet you can post up?

First this should have been posted in the suspension section .
your question is pretty much answered there.
Under compression the front geometry toes out on my gs like any other I have seen or any car.
Inner tire wear is camber , feathering is from toe , caster will be shown by the wheel not being centered. check the suspension threads for ideas on what you need and how to fix.

But not all inner tire wear is camber related. Its the combination as well of how you drive. Spirited driving if there was no toe component would not wear tires based on camber alone. It allows more force to roll the tire contact patch under the car. Its a multi dimensional problem and I am assuming most GS guys do not push things are hard since the weight of the car. I used to own a 99.
On the ISF and ISx50 the car will toe in under compression up front since the steering rack is forward of the hub to fit the brakes. An alignment sheet would help see all the static variables.

Lexus Test Driver
I had the exact issue you were having. All the allignment shops I visited could not diagnose the problem correctly and just tried to adjust to compinsate.
Long story short a specialty shop here was able to spot the problem as rear driver side plate not being installed correctly and bent
sorry I'm not using the correct term here. Once the problem was corrected and alingment done the problem went away. It's not the gs and you don't need a camber kit. A mild drop like mine ebach w belstien shocks should alling and give you excelent tire wear. I have not had this problem come back. It's been over three years
http://www.customalignment.com/
is the shop I was refered to by CL members
if it wasn't for a proper diagnoses by looking at the whole problem I would still be getting only 5k on my front set of tires . I also had the front ball joints replaced due to driver side going bad. This was all at 60k I'm now celebrating 100k and have no issues to report. Other then I wished I found this shop 50k sooner
