Default How to remove the PCV valve removal.

Could someone please tell me how to remove the PCV valve? I've tried pulling on it and it doesn't budge. I'm changing my starter, and would like to replace it while I have easy access to it. Thanks.

There were a few burs on the new starter. I had to sand them down and it slid right in. But seriously, this was an OEm starter. I shouldn't have to do anything to it.

And to top it off, there's a ad for an Infinity M on the right side on the screen. That's dirty...

Still can't get the darn PCV valve off.

It's really hard to get the PCV off when the engine is cold. In your situation, spray some WD-40 and get a really long needle-nose pliers, clamp it all the way down of the mouth and start yanking, twist, turn until it comes out. In the end you going to replace the PCV anyways. Hope that helps.

You might consider replaceing the grommet that holds the pcv valve in. I did mine today. The grommet was hardened solid. Didnt even feel like rubber. It will break up, so be careful so it doesnt fall into the engine and account for all the pieces. Also inspect the pcv hose. Mine was cracked underneath where it attaches to the intake manifold. It was the source of my P0171 CEL. Took me months to find it. Car is running much smoother with the new pcv valve. First time I'd changed it in 10 years/95K miles.

Yeah, I have the original pcv and I just hit 100k 2 weeks ago. The grommet is hard like a rock. Most likely why it's so hard to remove. I guess I'll be ordering a new grommet. Also, I will buy a new valve cover gasket. As I will remove it when removing the pcv. I can clean it and make sure pieces don't fall into the engine. The previous owner spilled oil when refilling it and now it's nasty. Thanks for the heads up.

I used a long needle nose pliers, and even though it broke apart and the bottom of the grommet "fell in" I was able to retrieve all the pieces. I reassembled the grommet to make sure. The area below the grommet is very small and I was able to use the needle nose to retrieve the bottom part of the grommet. I didnt have to remove the valve cover, so I didnt. In retrospect, I think I might have done better to make some sort of T shaped tool, with a sring and a bar, put that in to the grommet and pulled out from the back.
