As far as changing this filter...I am game as well. I will look into buying an OEM one from Carson soon.

***P.S. to all that have changed the filter so far - how is your fuel pump holding up? Any difference in gas mileage and/or performance? Thanks!
thats what air bags are for i dont drive around too low. but when i park i let the air out. that way i dont have to drive like a old man...

Yea the "sock" isn't white, but yellow like pictured and since I work at Toyota I was able to pick up both parts from my dealer without having to go to Lexus for them. Now I just gotta find time to do the install.

I need to do this. I have a lean code, and it is highly possible that with that much gunk in the filter, I am not getting a good flow.

I still honestly think you had a freak accident since you are still the only one I know of that this happened to. I mean I had mine out twice, and don't have a problem. Eric just did his at nearly 300k with no problem.

I still didn't even bother putting in that ring you gave me either. I don't know, but you are right, when people take the filter housing out, be very careful and check all the rings. If a ring is torn, you are going to have the same problem as Och. But once again, you are the only person I have ever heard of this happening to. Just weird isht, I'm telling you, the car is a little pissed at you.

I wouldn't open the unit up again without worry all I’m trying to say.

I finally changed the fuel filter. I will be doing the fuel screen soon when I get the part from my local dealer with 10-15% disc. The filter kind of black and dirty and this was with 145k miles on it.

The white sock is just a pre-filter. Keeps the big stuff out. It's a coarse filter, maybe like 50-100micron or so. The big internal one is the one that actually does the real work. I think that one gets it down to around 2-5microns or so.

Also, if you have no luck with Carson Toyota. You can also try the Toyota dealer in Houston, TX. They're called champion Toyota and they give the same discounts as carson.
FYI: For either Carson or Champion. If the part you're trying to order is shared with a Toyota. You will save a few bucks if you search the part number as a Toyota instead of a Lexus
