I was once in the position that you were in. Instead of going the aftermarket HID route, I decided to stick it out and went OEM. At the time, I had a friend who works at lexus and got me a pair of new green tinted OEM HID Housing and HID ballast. I went and purchased new phillips HID bulbs to go with the setup. What really struck me was the price for the HID harness from lexus. I'll tell you now that they are not cheap. So what I did was find an wrecked GS4xx and took the HID harness from that car and transferred it over to mine. I didn't bother with the auto leveling since the car was hit from the rear which had damaged the sensors. After all said and done, I'm very happy with my setup knowing that I have a reliable OEM setup.

Thats pretty ignorant... Same thing people say with 200 walmart systems in their trunk and say, "whoever says you need a $1000+ system is wrong" but hey, if you Like it I Love it! However, its never a good idea to decredit what everyone has said with out personal experience of both sides of the argument... I had HID's in a non hid housing and I got rid of them without hesitance because it was horrible! Were they better than halogen? A bit... but light was going everywhere hid housings focus the light to where it needs to be instead of going all over the place.

just my $3dollars and .02 cents.

I apologize. Never my objective to insult you or anyone on here. Different strokes for different folks. I am stating my own personal experience. The HID's I have work great in my 95 Escort Winter Beater. And those headlights are crap. They are not clear like newer headlights. And the HID's work great without blinding people. No where near as good as the ones on my GS, but then, I wouldn't figure so as the Lexus I have, is considerably more to replace the bulbs and ballasts.

The Escort sucks, and I use it in winter, and I know how expensive some HID systems can cost. I figured I'd give it a shot, even though I was skeptical because they were cheap. But I have no regrets. I love them. 5000k. Perfect balance.

I'm sure having the correct housing would be ideal, but when dealing with a car that blows, like mine, it's not even an option.

Check out HIDs from Xenon Depot. They claim to gave an optically correct beam pattern which may reduce the glare. I bought them in 4300k for my 02 GS just haven't had a minute to install yet.

well as long as it has that 'band' around it, any and all brands can make that claim (and be true) however the focus of the light is still not the same but yea, that band stops the light from illuminating down thus stopping the reflection from glaring up.
