Question Still smell other cars fumes.

I have noticed that when I hit the recycle air button in my 99 GS4 I still smell the other cars fumes. What could be the problem?

Once you smell the fumes, they're already in the car. It takes a little time to air that out. Like turning on the fan in the bathroom too late instead of hitting the switch upon entry to get ahead of the game.

OP, it does take a few minutes to cycle out the fumes that are already in the car. When was the last time you changed your in cabin air filter?

check your in-cabin air filter (behind your glove box)...time to swap out the charcoal filter.

I have a book of matches in my desk. Someone drops a deuce, I spark one, let it burn, drop in the toilet to make sure it's out, leave, wait 10 seconds, go back in. Boom! Problem solved.

And like mentioned. Wait for the fumes to evacuate after a few mins.

no, they OEM ones are carbon activated charcoal units.

closest i have found for a reasonable price is the purolater c35518

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...GRPFILTAMS____

it doesnt say carbon activated or charcoal on this page but it does on the comp in advances store, this is the only filter i use and i change mine every 6 months, just changed one when i did my oil 2 days ago
