Default Any advice? Weird noise coming from my engine.

Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to the forum and brand new to Lexus ownership. I bought a 2000 GS400 about 1 month ago and have been slowly tuning it up and hoping to do some mods here in the spring.

Recently, whenever I start the engine, as it is warming up there is a secondary motor that kicks on for about 3-5 seconds and then kicks off with a faint "pop" or "knock". It seems to be on the driver's side of the engine compartment. I don't remember it doing this when I bought the car so I think it has developed over the last month. This motor kicks on and off periodically the entire time I am driving the car. Sometimes it seems to be connect to the brakes but other times it just turns on for no apparent reason. I'll also use the brakes many times without the motor turning on so I am at a complete loss

Anybody have any advice? I have a service appointment on Thursday but would love to go in with some sort of background knowledge.

Thanks...

lol, its the brake accumulator. Very normal/common and not a problem to my knowledge. My car has done it since I bought it 10.5k miles ago. Many owners on this forum notice the noise as well without any adverse affects.

No problem. The noise is even audible when the engine is turned off and you're shifting the gears in "on" mode.

Sitting in my GS right now while typing this lol.... Just made that noise.

I ended up keeping my service appointment because I had some other quick things I wanted the guys to do for me. They confirmed what you guys had already suggested. It is just my brake accumulator. They said there is nothing to worry about. After getting my lower ball joints looked at and my transmission flushed out, I am good to go. Thanks again!!!
