ok, ok so I guess the halos are out. lol I found a guy (bjorn) from Customlightz.com that said he can do a complete LS430 retro (along with a special clear lens swap giving an even more crisp cutoff) with ALL parts included in the same day for around $700-$1000 bucks (more towards the $800 range).

He can also do the S2000 setup with the same clear lens swap for closer to $900-1000.)

He seems like a very knowledgable guy and has many videos on Youtube...is this too expensive though?

Where in NY you at, I would do that at the same time as you. I just don't know where to get the LS projectors and who to do the job locally.

I have been collecting the parts to do this retro soon, and so far got the LS430 projectors for $370, the LuxuryMods brackets for $50, and the TSX-R clear lenses for $75.. I still need D2S bulbs and GS ballasts..

It will cost a bit more for me getting GS ballasts than getting a bulb/ballast combo, but I want to keep it as factory as possible and mount them to the headlight like oem. If you already have OEM hid's then you won't have the ballast cost to factor in but will still need D2S bulb instead of the factory D2R's..

So I'm in $495 so far, So add another $150 +/- for real Phillips D2S's, and the possible need for ballasts, then $800ish doesn't really sound to bad to pay someone the labor and guarantee if the f-it up they will have fix it..

I honestly like halos and I'm sure it'll come out good on a nicely modded car like yours.

Havent had experience with him but why not go and get it done locally? Rich at www.hidillusionz.com is local and has been doing retros for many years, I've had work done by him back in 2004 and my friend Nar8ta had his ls430 retro done by him last year. Contact him and see what he says.

bjorn does not use CUSTOM MADE brackets as LUXURYMODS. He uses the old stock bowl cut/epoxy etc..I would not compare his retro at the same level as LUXURYMODS..Not to bad mouth the guy, im sure he knows what he is doing, but ITS NOT APPLES to APPLES.

if this is your first attempt on a retro, chances are you will ruin something, the separating part is the hardest, everything else is a piece of cake.

I would spend money LUXURYMODS charges for the retro excluding parts and get it down. I originally had tony doing the retro however due to scheduling problems i had to do them myself, just headaches i didnt want.
There is no thinking about this at all, either you do it or you dont. Someone who has done this 100 plus times would be the one i would go with especially if they have resourced SPECIAL MADE brackets from EXPERIENCE. TONY from LuxuryMods is your Man!
BTW, it took me two different sets of headlights on different car retros over the years to get tricks of the trade down. MY GS has been my number #5 retro and by no means is perfect but close for me to like.

What's not perfect about the outcome. They look killer in the pics..

Just wondering what little thing may have bothered you about the outcome, as I'm going to be doing mine once I get the last couple parts..

maybe you can practice converting your oem fog to projectors...that should be cheap to do and will give you confidence to do your own retro.

well, like i said the separating is the hardest part. i would recommend a Hair drier to softens the glue before putting it in the oven. once you have put it in the oven, the housing becomes very soft so you have to be careful not to bend it to the point where it becomes deformed. in my case i used a flat head and a knife. the flat head is what does the most damage to the housing if your not careful. I hope this makes sense.
