Default So I am contemplating to open my headlights up

With all this talk of retros lately I am getting the itch. However, I personally like the oem look of my headlights...but, what do you guys think about adding halo rings to the stock headlight unit? I know they are normally used around projector setups but I don't feel like dropping another $250+ on a projector setup. At this time I would be removing the ugly amber turn signal as well.

I got these halo rings from a friend a while back that fit an M3; they came with (4) halo rings and all necessary wiring...I hooked them up and the color is SICK! Very, very white with a slight blue hue to them...would match the rest of my lights nicely.

I am asking for some opinions if you think it would look good. I know with the low-beam headlights on you probably won't see the halos that well around the low beams but the ones on the inner lights would show up nicely. All other times I would just put my parking lights on (what I would be hooking them up to) and all 4 would be pronounced. or rolling into a parking lot at night at meets.

FYI...all halo rings are all the same size.

I know alotta the OG's around here think they belong on BMW's only... but personally I love em. So I say go for it

If you're opening up the headlights though, do a projector retro while you're at it. May as well ya know? It aint that much extra work.

+1 Not so much because they're a Bimmer trademark, but because they're so five years ago. Get projectors, maybe use LEDs a la Audi/Porsche to do something cool in there.

I was actually thinking of this...maybe I will take the halos apart and string them along part of the inside perimeter of the housing; this might look cool. I may start to think about the projectors...the ONLY thing I don't like about MOST of the retro (projector) mods is that the unit always seems too look a little too small for the 2GS headlight housing.

Does anyone know what are nice (but NOT top of the line) retro projector kits being used and their price?

you can make any projector look like it belongs because it matters how u make the bezel covering the projector, you can fiberglass a bezel that covers the whole housing.

^^no go on halo. If you buy the mounting bracket, you're good to go. I chose to mount on the existing bowl.

IMO the halos are played out like others have said. I love the looks of the LS460 projectors myself, looks very OEM. Obviously you know the LS430's are the king of output and fill the headlights well but aren't quite as flashy as the LS460's or Q45's. I've got the Q45's and the output and beam pattern is better than the GS HID reflectors but not up to par with some of the others. They do get some looks though!

I'd go for the retro (whichever way you might decide to go with it) and forget the halo's personally.
