I painted mine a few years ago.
The prep work is the killer. We took off all the window trim, glass, door handles, lights, etc.
The paint materials alone were $1500+, but we used high-line PPG Vibrance and the car is three different colors.
Including all the custom work to the fenders, bumpers, and hood, this was a $10K job. I would imagine a good repaint with color change would be $3500+. Considering the materials and labor involved in a job like this, it's not worth it for most high-end shops to do it for less. To do it right, you'd need to pull the engine, which would cost more.
