Default Got rice?

I was bored and I came up with this. Here's an 8" speaker in a aluminum rice pot.

Question to you guys, I don't think the volume is large enough for the driver but, can aluminum be used as a speaker box?

This this weighs next to nothing and solid!

For concept purpose only, do not laugh, I repeat, do not laugh!

Lol no way. It's way too resonant.

I've got the same rice cooker. You guys must be Vietnamese as well?

are you sure? it's solid. I'm putting mines in the door but it's an idea for building a box. It's really light...maybe thicker aluminum? I doubt there is resonant..

It's softer than metal...it's all aluminum. It's more "maleable" (if I spelled it correctly).

Any material can resonate if you touch upon the right frequency, Using aluminum is possible but not in its raw shape it will sound harsh, have an echo, and at certain frequencies will resonate. However if you chose to build a speaker enclosure out of aluminum which IMHO is not cost effective nor easy you can, but u would need to sound deaden the aluminum with quite a bit of material in order to make it sound decent. So your weight for the enclosure goes back up to within the range of mdf or wood and maybe even slightly more.

I think Spyder is right -- it'll be harsh, tinny sounding. But maybe put DynaMat inside, and you might have something there...

I also have that rice cooker. Proud to say I just learned how to make sticky rice and we LOVE IT!! (PS. I'm a pasty white dude.)

we've always stuck to "national" brand (aka asian panasonic) rice cookers. havent failed us in over 30 years.

LOL, you guys are great!

dynamat is a good idea. Unfortunately, my stomach needs the rice more than the ears does and I'm not about to cut and dynamat that...maybe during free time.
