If you're gonna do that swap, might as well do a 430 or LS1 swap...

Hmm, well everyone with a 400 say they love the power maybe that's all the power upgrade that he wants or he could possibly have a supercharger to throw on it..Not sure however how much is the LS1 swap going to run? Compared to the purchasing of a 400 engine?

I always thought that would be cool. I believe the A650E trans is the same for both cars. The rear end ratios are different. Other than that, I would think you could buy a motor with wiring harness and ecm, possibly different motor mounts. Exhaust from manifolds to second converter would be different.

Has this been done? I hear of the swap the other way around so people can turbo the 300 motor because of the potential in power gains, the huge forced induction (and supporting mods + tuning) availablity, and more bang for the buck. I was searching for a turbo kit for GS400 before and it was over $15k! That's more than the KBB value of my car.

not worth the hassle, you're better off buying a gs4 for the total price of the engine and the swap. go hard on a ls7 if you want to do a swap, balling.

Well just to throw my .02 cents out there to actually do a good tune and build on a 2JZ motor is going to run you what looks like a good 10K, and that is at the minimum so that LS1 swap isn't looking so bad in terms of price and power gains...

LS1 is the engine code/term used by GM (and many car enthusiasts) and has been used in cars like the previous generation Camaro (usually detuned a bit) and Corvette. If you search member CleanS14, he has successfully done this install into the GS and is one of the pioneers of this type of swap. Newer variants are now used so they've been dubbed LS7, etc. So when you see someone say you should drop in a LSx, the x means it could be 1, 3, 6, 7, or whatever. The ultimate would be supercharged LS9.... the Corvette ZR-1 engine.

My only issue is with the 2JZ-GTE or boosting, it won't be legal. And it costs so much. With the GS400 it has 300 hp, and isn't considered slow by today's standards. Ideally I would want 500hp, in my somewhat sleeper car. But I want around 300 for now. Getting a GTE would be too much money, time, and hassle in CA. The LSX sounds good but there isn't much info on the swap. I'd have to call DGR and they're closed weekends. If the LSX motors are dependable and legal, they're much more plausible for my car especially considering the price being cheaper.
