Default LEDs thin clear lense swap with 01+ OEM lense.

Hello everyone,

There has been many threads about this, trying to swap lenses. LED with OEM and OEM without the amber.

A lot of people know about this. Some have tried it and all have failed i believe. (correct me if i'm wrong). I haven't find a thread that someone was able to do it yet, but i was able to find someone switch the LED lense to the OEM back housing to make it look like a JP style, but i wanted to see the OEM with LEDs which he broke the OEM lense.

I have purchase and 01+ OEM taillight and Thin clear LED taillight. I got lucky with these sets. Got both for VERY cheap.

I am currently doing this project. I have high hope for this. Wish me luck.
As i already know, this might fail, but atleast i have a thought that it can't be done.

project is in progress.

I will post some pictures today so you guys can take a look.

Tommy from Musicbox and other members said they have tried this and the outter lense for the LED thin stripes needs to be shaved in order to fit flush with the OEM. Otherwise there is a gap. Other than that you just need to make sure you get the right glue.

Thanks for the heads up.

Tools i will be using :
Dremel
Oven
very thin blade
plastic cutter blade
2 Silicone clear called Prematex RTV Silicon adhesive
Marine-Tex Poly-Dura glue

I also have a buddy that use good with retrofitting and using these kind of type of material. He's mostly on the acurazine forum doing retrofits.

These are the tools i will be using at the moment.

As far as i know right now, it's really hard to open the OEM lense. Even an oven won't open it out. The glue that they use for the OEMs is really strong. So most likely i will be using a dremel for that.

As for the aftermarket, I've read on the forum that it is easy to open with a heat gun.

we will see and i'll put everything to the test tonight. pictures will be posted. I'm excited for this.

i believe this task cannot be done. It's way to tough to do and very time consuming. At the moment, i will leave this project guessing.

i decided to pick up insurance lights within a few weeks.

Well, like i said. I'm tried. I knew it's going to be hard...

I've opened one of the LED's taillights and the other one is slightly cracked when i tried opening it.

AS for the OEM taillights. There's no possible way to open it.

And the LEDs... I'm going to leave it as undone. ,

Althought i might use the LEDs for other good uses. Thinking about LED's clear corners OR... LED signals.

Are the OEM lights still in good condition, or were they damaged in the process?
