my 2000 GS4 trunk lid has shifted about 0.5" inch toward the rear of the vehicle after using the Saris Bones bike rack. i hit a couple of big bumps, and noticed it after that. is there some way to adjust the trunk lid back to the correct position, or does it sound like the trunk mounting arms have been bent?

on first glance, it didn't look like there was much of an adjustment, which is why i suspected that the trunk arms were bent. but i would have thought they would have had some adjustment built in.

Its not the arms, its most likely the lid. I have the same problem but from a different reason. I just grabbed the bottom of the lid and pulled
The reason I believe its the lid is because its VERY soft, thus the reason a nice little pull works (for me that is) I would think the soft part would bend before the hard arms.

How heavy is your bike?!
I'm about to put a bikerack and bike on for the summer, but I have a light-ish bike, should I be concerned, or did you load up a couple of old steel bikes?

it's a Kona downhill bike, so it's not light at all, but is under the recommended weight limit for the bike rack. everything was solid and working fine... it was when i hit some hard bumps that it tweaked the trunk. if you have a light road bike, i wouldn't worry about it at all.
i still haven't figured out if there's some adjustment built into the trunk positioning... it doesn't seem that way, so i might be taking it to the dealership and/or body shop.

UPDATE: so it turns out that the trunk arms were bent... replacing them with factory parts was about $100 per arm, so i decided to give it a shot in repairing them myself. i picked up a large c-clamp and slowly bent them back into shape, using vise grips to keep the clamp from slipping. it worked great... the trunk is now lined up perfectly.
oh, and one Saris bike rack is going on craigslist
