Default found a new secret about our cars!!!

1. Put the key in the ignition, but don't turn it. Push and hold the reset counter button. Don't release it.

2. Next turn the key to the accessory on position. NOT starting your GS, but just to the first click. Leave the key there.

Keep holding it for about 10 sec., then two characters will come up. press the trip again to new numbers come up. i barely tried this, so give it a shot. let me know what you get from this

ok well there is a reason why i tried this. my cousin showed me this on his 99 mustang. on the mustang, it shows so many options, rpm speed, car speed, fuel, oil, etc....
so then we tried my car. after about 10-15 secs. the odo went away and in the middle of the screen, it showed SP or maybe it was 5P, i couldnt tell exactly. press the button again it shows two more numbers, there is about 4 or 5 of them.
i am going to try it again. we did it twice so far. ill let you know more details, in a couple min.
by the way i have 2k gs4 platinum series.
someone else try this too, i know there is a secret place we can go, the mustang did.

Sounds like you may have found a diagnostic test. Lexus puts these things in the car.

For example in my SC I can do a diagnostic on the AC by:

Turning the ignition switch on while pushing in the AUTO and REC switch simultaneously.

All indicators flash 4 times and then the error codes will show up for the AC.

i just tried it again.
details:
turn key once, press and hold reset button. turn key to the last one, the last place you can go before turning the car on. this is the position where youre displays light up too. keep holding the reset button for 20-30 secs., then let go. you should see 5p show up where youre mileage is usually displayed. then press the odo/trip button thats right below the reset button. the next message i got was 7A. pressed it again and got Fu. next was 7e. then back to 5p again. i also drove the car around with each of these displayed, no difference though.

finally, this went away after 5 min. of driving, or if you turn the car off and on again. maybe its nothing, but hopefully it does something. if anybody else can get this to happen, let us know. i am going to try this in my friends 94 gs3 and 2kgs3.

I guess before playing around with this you should of found out what if anything it does to your car.. Just my 2 cents!

Maybe DevilDogIS300 can give us some insite or any other Lexus Tech guys that come on CL??

Don't waste your time on this. Without Repair Manual those numbers doesn't mean anything. If there's something wrong with your car, you'll know it. The numbers are for Multiplex ECU to recognized where the signal is coming from, such as Door ECUs x 4, Steering ECU, A/C ECU, Memory Seat ECU, Mirror ECU, Body ECU and so on... The first set of numbers is Physical address( where it's coming from). the second set is logical address. I got a headche already, just to think about it. Don't.
