Talking value of 99 gs400?

Local dealer has a black on black gs400 with 103k and asking price is $8900. However running it through lexus i discovered 2wks ago they diagnosed it needs a new compressor and they also reccomended exp valve and drier. Also it hasnt had the 90k svc done. It appears to be a 1 owner has all svc history at lexus ball joints and other svc intervals have been done. A buddy of mine can most likely do all that stuff for me for alot less than dealer.
Whats a good offer for it? I'de also trade in my IS for it.

Its hard to value without options, and conditions, does have any damage, ever been in an accident, where is the car from, lots of factors go into a price. Need more info, pics too!

I have a 2000 GS4 with 45,000 on it. Perfect condition and according to KBB it's worth 9000.00.

KBB is not accurate - theres no way a 45K miles perfect condition is worth $9K, check Edmunds TMV, and NADA.. KBB is used to de-value your trade-in value but Edmunds have a TMV (True Market Value) shows what people are paying on average. and NADA shows Market Retail.

Edit: If you want to sell your car for $9k, i'll buy your car now!

Hard to access a car without looking at it or seeing pics but according to the facts, about $6,000-$6500 considering the car needs to be fixed.

Remember to be firm and act like you really don't need or have to have the car, just something you're considering if they want to do the deal.. Good Luck!

I'll sell you a black 98 GS300 that needs a compressor (has remanned compressor in it now which is acting up) with 88k miles for $7000!!!!! Im in DFW and tired of dealing with this AC work ( already spent $600 on getting the remanned compressor to work, plus new condenser and drier)

Edmunds still lists my car at 9800.00 to a private party which now that I think about it is close to KBB. I think KBB was higher than 9k but not quite 10k.

I would love to sell it! I have my eye on an E55. But there is no way I can justify it. I bought it a year ago. Did the timing belt due to age, and changed every fluid, daizen rack bushings, and a few other things. And I have 0 steering wheel shake and no rust.

I have about 20k into it. Don't really want to take a 10k hit just to buy another car.

But here it is. Platinum edition and all. 10 years old with 45,000 on the clock.

It's crazy how much these cars have depreciated in the last couple years. Glad I'm not trying to get rid of mine, I'd be taking a huge hit.

FYI, I totaled my 98 GS 400 pearl white with 151,000 miles. Good condition. The insurance company is giving me $9342. Everything worked on that car.

NADA has a little better pricing on the GS.. I'm just stunned that a clean low mileage GS is worth so little. This surprises me everytime..
